History/Formation

Music was always a passion of these talented young men. It’s a struggle, not only being in the Caribbean, but in one of the less developed islands in its grouping (The Lesser Antilles). In their younger years, while going through high school, they spent recess breaks freestyling and writing raps in class. They had a childhood that revolved around the love for Basketball (Shaft), Money (Black Boi), Exposure (S-Montana) and Life (Shatta).

All being exposed to the particular rapping word play of the 1990’s and small competitions between each other allowed them to grow into one of the most proficient groups/record labels in their region.

The group was formed in February, 2010. Shatta (Nahya Evans) “CEO” decided to form a group, and named the group Suede Entertainment. The named derived from how the artists delivered their flows. The suave releases from the artists (Shatta, T-Bonez, Shaft, S-Montana and Professor) became known after their first Mixtape “Jackin’ Fa Beatz – The Sermon”. All of the Artists were born and raised in the Commonwealth of Dominica. This country is widely known for Bouyon or Calypsonian artists. Suede Entertainment presents music that’s associated with detail that depicts most their life experiences. With storming music and building a video base on YouTube, the group and record label plan on taking the music industry to the next level in Dominica.
The group has been featured on a Da’s Finest Website at the release of their 2ndMixtape in 2013 “Failure Ain’t An Option” “Da-Finest” and with content being released on EDiztrict’s website “Ediztrict” their exposure’s been kicking up a storm in the islands region.

Career Beginnings 2010-2012

Shatta produced and is featured on their 1st mixtape “Jackin’ Fa Beatz – The Sermon” in 2011. The mixtape features production from U.S based producers. The tape also sold 250 hard copies at that time.

3 members of Suede Entertainment (Shatta, Professor, Shaft) were featured on 365’s Seasons Greetings Cypher in 2012.

2013: Failure Ain’t An Option

On April 23, 2013, Suede Entertainment released their 2nd mixtape on DatPiff.com “Failure Ain’t An Option”. The song “Cray” Prod. By T-Minus was widely aired in the island region. The tape got 2,138 downloads on DatPiff.com. Plans to release an EP have been revealed on their “Blogspot”.

It’s set for arrival in 2015.

April also marked the release of Professor’s solo project; “Professology”.

May, 2013, Suede Entertainment featured in a Live Performance alongside Jamaican Artist JahVinci. The show was a success pushing Suede Ent to high heights locally in their region. Exclusive footage on that event is to be released in the near future.

On May 23, 2013 the group announced the release of their first Official Video “Ready”. This video stormed over 1,000 views on YouTube.

November 29, 2013 dated the release of T-Bonez 3rd Consecutive mixtape; “Is This What You Want”.

December 11, 2013, Suede Ent released their 2nd Official Video; “16”.

2014-Present

July, 2014, Suede Entertainment was nominated for local Artists who could win the chance to perform Live at Dominica’s World Creole Music Festival 2014. The group led in the first quarter of the vote competition with over 80% of the fans requesting to perform Live. Suede Ent was not selected.

The group teamed up with KiidJay G to release the official video for “RNS”; a song off “Written Therapy” the mixtape. The next month, Shatta released “Turn It On” official video. The official single can be found for purchase in our store.

Shaft released a “Proud of That” in September. This also lists as another song off the “Written Therapy” mixtape.

October, 2014, “Written Therapy”Official Intro Video was released. The video depicts true hip hop in its essence; the core of “Written Therapy”.

The main focus of Suede Entertainment was to provide their fans with Videos and more in depth footage of how the team functions. With “Written Therapy” being pushed back a few months after being announced, the group is destined to provide the mixtape to its fans and assure that’s its release will be worth the delay.

Personal Issues

The name mentioned earlier “Professor”; a former member of Suede Entertainment chose to step aside from the music scene for personal reasons. Unreleased recorded material from the artist may be released in the future.
